Society For Physical & Occupational Therapy

- UCLA est. 2014 -

Check out our events page here for updates and more information.

The Society for Physical and Occupational Therapy (SPOT) is the only club on the UCLA campus that facilitate students to pursue a career in physical or occupational therapy. SPOT strives to assist anyone who desires admission into graduate level physical therapy or occupational therapy programs by providing related opportunities, resources, and support to pre-therapy students.

3 PRINCIPLE COMPONENTS

Picture

career guidance

We regularly host guest speakers who speak about their particular line of work and guide club members about potential career interests through networking. Other presentation topics include, but are not limited to, GRE, applying to graduate school, and public health.
Picture

clinical experience

We make sure we are able to provide students with the maximum exposure possible to physical therapy and occupational therapy via shadowing and volunteering opportunities.
Picture

community service

Depending on what is readily available, community service is structured around physical therapy and occupational therapy, and community outreach such as health education.

The primary purpose of our club is to create opportunities for students interested in a future in physical therapy or occupational therapy. Our PT/OT club hosts weekly lectures by clinicians, graduate students, graduate school admission officers, and career guidance counselors. Furthermore, we provide opportunities for students to volunteer in local clinics and other relevant health-related events. By increasing awareness and opening doors for hands-on experience, SPOT equips students to pursue a future as therapists. Our mission is to guide scholars in a career in PT/OT by maximizing career guidance, clinical exposure, and community outreach while creating a pre-therapy network of undergraduate, graduate, and advisors to support one another in their prospective endeavors.
